ABOUT PROJECT: HUMANITY

Project: Humanity (PH) is a socially-engaged theatre company founded in 2008. Based in Toronto, but active nationally, PH believes the performing arts can bring disparate groups together and help them listen more compassionately. We’ve become one of the country’s leading developers of Verbatim Theatre, a journalistic form of theatre that involves transforming original interview transcripts into ‘live documentaries’ for the stage. The PH: YOUTH arm of the company, operating in both high schools and the youth shelter system, has impacted the lives of over 19,000 students since we incorporated eleven years ago.

THE POSITION

Reporting to the Executive Director and Artistic Director, the Administrator oversees some of the administrative elements of both the educational and artistic sides of the company. The Administrator’s primary responsibility is related to program management, though ample time is also given to financial management and production. The position divides as such:


General Administration

  • Assist with the management of operating budget, financial forecasts, and cash flows, and completing monthly bookkeeping 

  • Assist the Communications and Development Coordinator with website maintenance, grant applications, and other tasks related to the implementation of the company’s development and communication strategies 

  • Schedule and attend Board of Director meetings, and prepare minutes, reports, and other documents for said meetings 

  • Assist with research program - collect and organize data and metrics

  • Assist with the strategic planning process  

  • Assist with the development of and implementation of human resources policy 

Education

  • Manage theatre workshops by coordinating bookings with teachers, hiring facilitators, and generating invoices 

  • Manage Drama Drop-In and other youth shelter programming by hiring and scheduling facilitators, and managing budgets 

  • Manage the CRM from an educational perspective with teacher contacts 

Production

  • In collaboration with producing teams, or independently (depending on the situation), execute producing tasks for PH productions and works in development

  • Contract playwrights, performers and designers

  • Assist with the maintenance of production schedules and budgets

The Administrator will be compensated $20/hour as a part-time employee for 25 hours per week in a flexible schedule that works best with the Administrator’s other commitments. As Project: Humanity grows there is a possibility for this role to develop into a full-time position. 

The Administrator will preferably start work the week of March 21st at the latest. Project: Humanity works remotely so candidates from the GTA are preferred, though those who live in the Eastern Standard Timezone may also apply.

As evidenced by the job description, the Administrator has numerous financial, scheduling, and administrative responsibilities. Those who possess strong skills with regard to organization, management and prioritization of tasks, and attention to detail will thrive in this position. Experience with the Google Suite, Excel, Quickbooks and Wagepoint is also an asset.
